Review: Laughing Sinners (1931)

Summary (From Letterboxd)

Ivy Stevens is a cafe entertainer in love with a shifty salesman who deserts her. In attempting to commit suicide, she is saved by Carl, a Salvation Army officer. Encouraged by Carl, Ivy joins the Salvation Army. When her old flame re-enters her life, Ivy finds she is still attracted and begins another affair with him.

Initial Thoughts/ Review: At first I was a little confused as to why it only had 5/10 stars on IMDB but after watching the whole thing, I get it.

A lot of these older films just... end and it's a bit jarring. The first half is quite the riot and I question wtf MGM had planned for Clark Gable when they cast him as the reformed-inmate-turned-preacher. It's a weird choice as he's always come across way too confident to me in any role he plays so I'm not sure this was the best fit.

All in all, it deserves that 5/10 rating!

Disclaimer: I am not a movie buff by any means

Welcome Back!

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!

It's been quite some time and many things have changed in the last 13 years.

Should I change the name? Sure.

Is anyone reading this? I hope not, but it’s fun for me to look back on.

Do I know Google is aggregating data from these posts? Yeah, I’m slightly resigned to the trade off of using this tool for my end goal.

So what is the goal? Well, I feel like after so many years I am trying to re-develop skills and hobbies I found fun & have a record of it. For example, that knee injury? That messed me up something fierce. I knew I was running before I was injured since I was doing so many 5Ks but this blog showed me I wasn’t as consistent or running the distances I remember? I don’t know. It’s still a little fuzzy and I do know, then as it will be now, there are things that will be absolutely private. Also my memory timeline might be thinking of 9 months or 6 months prior versus the reality.

Anyway, I digress.

One of the skills is to relearn html or maybe coding? Old-school this bitch.

I remembered a few, but inputting photos and links… eeshk. That’s not coming back as easily. So you may find that the posts will change and suddenly there will be photos or additional content in published posts. I mean, no one is actually reading this in real time so it’s a wash.

I do like keeping the theme of recommendation at the end so what do I recommend? Being yourself. Investing in yourself and accentuate the vivaciousness of your soul.
